Drug Target Identification

Longevity genes that are identified by our two-way genomic screens provide a natural entry point for choosing candidate substances. Such positive multi-organism genomic results indicate that the identified genetic targets are associated with a highly conserved function or disease.

This then gives us the opportunity to screen the literature broadly for candidate substances which target or are known to interact with these genetic targets or their transcribed products.

Genescient has already demonstrated that this systemic approach works as expected, wherein some 75% of tested compounds that act on specific identified longevity targets have been shown to extend lifespan in our wild-type Drosophila flies.
